Finishing School: Edges & Binding Thu, Jan 30, 2025 10:00am - 2:00pm

Description Mary Ellen will be your guide to completing your UFOs--from easy and quick bindings to elegant edgings that will bring out the best in your finished quilts. You will start by learning the fastest, friendliest way to finish a quilt--bringing your backing to the front. She will show you how make and apply a traditional double-fold binding with mitered corners and bulk-free diagonal seams for stitching by machine or hand. And you will learn to bring inspired style to your edges with rickrack insertions, rounded and scalloped edges, ruffles and prairie points. She will also teach you how to add a sleeve for hanging your quilt. Rainbow Quilt Color SARIDITTY Trunk Show & Workshop Fri, Feb 14, 2025 1:00pm - 6:00pm

Description Join Sarah Thomas of SARIDITTY for a colorful and fun trunk show & lecture focusing on her recently released pattern book, "Rainbow Quilt Color Method." The trunk show & lecture will be followed by an interactive color workshop where you will learn how to confidently choose fabric for multi-color and monotone designs. Get ready to take a deep dive into the color wheel, and you'll leave with a newfound appreciation of all the possible color configurations ready to be made into keepsake quilts. Bring that "I-don't-know-how-to-use-it-or-match-it" fabric you have stashed for Sarah's input on fabric pairings and use. Free Motion Quilting and Ruler Sampler SARIDITTY Workshop Sat, Feb 15, 2025 10:00am - 4:00pm

Description FMQ CLASS Have you always wanted to free-motion quilt but were too anxious to do so? Join Sarah in this hands-on workshop and be liberated with free-motion quilting! With a bit of humor and a lot of encouragement, she will take you through a series of designs to build up your own unique edge-to-edge patterns that are both simple yet highly effective on your quilt tops. By the end of the workshop, you will feel more comfortable and brave with a variety of shapes and designs in different sizes. RULER SAMPLER CLASS Join Sarah in this ruler work class where you'll be provided with a pre-printed panel and various rulers to create your own quilted Star Blossom flower. You will work specifically with arcs, pebbles, a wave, a lotus petal, and have a slew of other ruler shapes at your disposal to make your panel uniquely yours. Sarah will share tips and tricks for using rulers to help highlight free motion designs and/or to take center stage with accurate and precisely-placed ruler quilting. Thread, fabric, batting, and ruler use will be provided in the class fee. Additional panels and ruler kits will be available to take home with you. You will be working on a BERNINA Q-series machine. Whether you are a stand up longarmer, a sitdown quilter, or a domestic quilter, and have an understanding of ruler use, this class is perfect for you! All About Applique Sat, Mar 15, 2025 10:00am - 2:00pm

Description In this class, Mary Ellen will show you how to applique seven ways, using fusibles, freezer paper, starch, glue, interfacing, and HNK leave-in papers. She will cover how to transfer patterns, prepare the appliques, how to position and then sew them to your background by hand or machine—or even quilt-as-you-go, using traditional or invisible threads. Using the book “100 Whimsical Applique Designs-Mix and match blocks to Create Playful Quilts” you will choose one block to make in class. She recommends selecting a desig n that has curves, inner and outer points, circles, stems and layering designs, such as #14 or #15, which are baskets of flowers. Although the sample uses brights for a baby quilt, these blocks would be lovely in traditional fabrics too, made into a pillow, table runner or larger project. Blossom Bunnies Two-Session Class Thu, Mar 20, 2025 10:00am - 2:00pm Thu, Apr 3, 2025 10:00am - 2:00pm

Description Time to ‘hop’ into spring with this adorable bunny project! Mary Ellen introduces you to turned edge applique the easy way — with glue! The Blossom Bunnies pattern comes with semi water soluble, laser cut applique papers thatdo not need to be removed after invisible machine applique to your background. No tedious tracing and cutting is necessary. In the first session, we will prepare the appliqués and glue baste them to the background. In the second session, we wi ll machine quilt-as-you-go using invisible thread and we will learn how to make the scallops. This is a great scrap buster, or use our fabric kit (limited availability*).
